Hoarders of fine goods.  Art, antiques, ethnic, interesting, curious objects for your nest.

Caren Petersen William Petersen

Ok, I’ll be honest. I’m a bit of a hoarder, or, “a collector of fine goods”. Besides art, I love to surround myself with trinkets and oddities, fine rugs, plants, books, pottery, all sorts of things that make my home interesting and comfortable.

And it’s an ongoing process. Nothing is ever stationary. Nothing stays the same, or in the same place, for long. It’s like a constantly rotating exhibition.

And it is what I want to share with you through my new online store, TheBowerbirdSC.com.

The Bowerbird is a curious bird from Australia, whose mating ritual centers around the male decorating his nest with various items of the same color. Once the female strolls by, if she doesn’t like the nest and continues on, the male will completely dismantle the decor and do it again in another color. Fabulous!

Besides the fact that the animal world is endlessly fascinating and curious, the ritual speaks to the idea of creating a more interesting and beautiful home for ourselves. A home that not only impresses others, but that comforts and compels us. Our environment as nest, a place that should be adorned and furnished and freshened constantly.
